RESERVES WIN AT THE JDS

A 76th minute goal from substitute striker Denico Walters gave Altrincham Reserves a 2-1 win in a closely fought match at the J Davidson Stadium on Friday night.

Alty had taken a first-minute lead when Will Smith scored. The visitors had plenty of the ball before half-time and, six minutes after the break, they levelled the score when their burly no.5 headed home a corner.

Walters's winner came from an excellent Max Pouncey freekick.

Match report here.

Next up is a home match at Egerton Sports Club against Knutsford, next Saturday (9th).

WEATHER ROBS RESERVES

On Saturday afternoon at Egerton Sports Club, Knutsford, Altrincham FC Reserves were 3-1 up against Rudheath Social early in the second half of their league match. But torrential rain forced the referee to abandon the game and deprive Alty of what looked likely to be a well-deserved win. One consolation was that all three Altrincham goals were scored by the recuperating Sean Miller, who was playing for the Reserves to regain match fitness.

RESERVES' UPDATE

On Saturday, a late switch of venue, saw Altrincham Reserves travel to Wythenshawe Town, rather than host the opposition as originally decreed by the fixture list. They lost, however, 3-1. Sean Miller played for the Reserves as he seeks to regain match fitness after his long injury lay-off.

Wythenshawe Town reported that alty's goal came in the 86th minute from Dylan Scanlan. In the final minute there was "A red card for Altrincham's Tom Westall and WTFC's Ben Pond and then the ref sent off [former Alty Youth captain] Richard Gresty" of Wythenshawe Town.

Alty Reserves' next fixture is on Saturday (30th) at home (Egerton) to Rudheath Social FC .

HIGH-SCORING GAME

Altrincham Reserves were away to Congleton Vale on Tuesday night and lost a high-scoring game to the odd goal in seven. In a very good game, Alty went 2-0 down after fifteen minutess before getting back to 2-2, thanks to two goals from Max Harrop, one of which was a penalty. Congleton then went 3-2 up before Joel Swift scored a 30-yard screamer to level the match again. The referee then awarded a dubious free kick, just out side the box shortly before the end, which was really well struck and clinched the game for the hosts.

On Saturday, Altrincham Reserves are away again, to Rudheath Social at Lostock Gralam.
